Government Pledges – Definitely Maybe

You’ll remember a couple of months ago, your vote was requested for a set of pledges to make your lives progressive and fairer…

I’m interested in being able to travel around this green and pleasant land, taking a conscious choice for the environment about the way I travel. 🚗🚂🚍🛺🛶🚀🚇

So, let’s see what I might be facing very soon when the pledges get their true first test to the public vote.

Car travel – not my preferred, but necessary sometimes… but road expansion on the buffers and fuel tax rises of summat like 10p per litre imminent 💷

Train travel – I already use a nationalised service, LNER, with rising costs cancellations and non-availability 💷

Bus travel – £2 fares under serious threat, and absolute lifeline for me to get to appointments, interviews, food shopping etc 💷

Virtual travel – on the end of a click, I’m connected to services, but you need broadband to click 💷

Shanks’s Pony – as someone who has limited ability to walk further than to the bus stop, walking a couple of miles to the station or town for thing’s – not happening 💷

The common denominator of all the above – my emptying pocket of cash where after rent, bills and basic food there’s little left 💷

I don’t need to worry though, the pledges will come true across two parliaments, or more plainly… ten years to you and I.

My pledge:

DEFINITELY – POVERTY

MAYBE – a lottery gift

NOT – a better life as it stands

I wish you good fortune in visualising your own life oasis, I think mine’s ⛺ once again
