Bureaucracy

Poverty

Well, all that bluster, the promises, TV debacle (sorry debating), and manifesto commitments palaver is done now as I sit down to write this post.

So truly how’s my life going to get better in real terms… that’s debatable! 🤭

Has my income improved overnight?

Has my monthly rent been capped?

Can I now get my health better?

Will my children’s future look brighter?

Will my rights be truly acknowledged?

Will my MP stick to what required me voting for them?

The blunt answer to all the above… UNLIKELY.

While I know it takes time to reform, change, improve what’s gone before, it’s likely to take eighteen months, two years to see anything tangible actually impacting me and my community.

Many haven’t got eighteen weeks left in their current predicaments, never mind months or years… so to trust is to see actions and that trust has to be earned!

Even my own mum, now in a care home (with two pensions coming in) has the princely sum of £6.91 per week to live off due to the ridiculous claw back system of social care, not even enough to get a daily paper to read manifestos!

Poverty, and addressing it, sits at the heart of many challenges people are faced. No amount of words feeds you, houses you, pays your utility bills.

I do have a pot to piss in today, but next week, even that might have gone if a decent offer comes in for it.

Ever hopeful of true change…
