Identity

I have never regretted being homeless. What I know today, the knowledge I have about life and relationships, comes directly from being homeless.

But it hasn’t just given me know-how, it has also made me a better, kinder and more empathetic person. Everything I’m now doing in terms of supporting other people comes from my being homeless.

That experience has changed my mindset and the way I think about life. I am just happy now to have a roof over my head, bills paid and food on my table. That is all I really need. I’m not envious of others who have a big massive job. I’m happy with what I have got and who I am.

Hi my name is Laura, I am a tour guide based in Manchester, educating people around issues people are facing with homelessness. I started this reporting to report on issues facing people who I know and meet, to say what is on their minds and for people to understand what's happening with others.
