As I say, the topic of the day is Braverman saying that homelessness is a lifestyle choice.
Obviously, she’s never taken the time to get to know anybody who’s been homeless. And then she would find out that it’s not a lifestyle choice. It is actually something that people have fallen into. Whatever type of homelessness people have fallen into, it is not a choice. It’s something that has happened in their life and not in a good way.
It seems to me that, especially with this government over the last few years and especially since 2019, have crept to the right very highly and they’ve now emboldened themselves to say the quiet parts out loud, things that were never said before but previously just thought., They seem to be emboldened to say the quiet parts out loud now and she will get support from a lot of her voters because of what she said.
A lot of them walk down the street, these true blue people, that walk down the street and will say the same thing that homeless people are where they are because it’s their choice. They’re there because that’s what they’ve done. They’re there because that is it.
None of them can be bothered to take the time to actually meet the people, understand the people and actually talk to them about why they’re there, how they got there.
Sometimes it is a choice but for the bulk of the time, it’s never through choice, it’s through circumstances. And it’s through circumstances of people that don’t give a shit.
Now please read the brilliant follow up piece to this.

Homelessness – it’s akin to a train getting derailed, as it were.
One moment one is going about one’s busyness, with a regular rythym – next thing… Wow…how the 😳 did that happen?
The rippling aftermath is awful.
Braverman hasn’t a clue. Cambridge education wasted.
Tax-payer paid.
What a shame!
