Unfortunately, over the weekend I have become unwell and unmotivated with what is going on.
I ended up missing my appointment with the police. I received a message this morning that my case was a civil dispute, and I should seek legal advice or get in touch with Citizens Advice. I called 101 and told the operator that I was not fighting to get back into the property. I just want my stuff back.
I gave him my call reference number, he read through my notes and told me that I need to email my local police to arrange a day and time to collect my belongings from my old flat. The operator told me it may take a few days as they may not be on duty. The operator then explained to me that the Safer Neighbourhood Team, along with the police, will be there with me to get my stuff just in case anything kicks off. We ended the call, I was sent a text message with the email address, and I sent over the email to my local police. Now it’s just a waiting game.
I received a call from my local GP to check on how my mental health is doing. Surprisingly, it’s not worsening.
I guess I’m just used to dealing with madness now and getting on with it without the need to harm myself. I’ve also had time to reflect on what’s happened to me. I’ve accepted that housing will always be an issue moving forward due to rent increases and lack of council homes being built. As a result some people are being forced to sofa surf while they navigate the council whilst those without this type of support from friends or family often find themselves on the street. If they have recourse to public funds they are then often picked up and warehoused in expensive, unsuitable temporary accommodation for increasingly longer periods of time as the housing system creaks under the pressure created by rising rates of homelessness.

…warehoused in expensive…properties…for increasingly longer periods of time… gets me dizzy
thank you for your observations.
Andrea
…warehoused …in expensive…for increasingly longer periods…
reminds of of ” Old Folks Homes”, if there be such a construct presently…using a dated but real expression of the times gone by…where senior citizens / people of certain age (awful expression).. would be and ARE being segregated, away from so-called regular stream of life…Retirement Homes / Age Concern …privately managed homes, which i gather are (thankfully) regulated, but i feel there isn’t effective oversight. Too much to do. Too much to follow on upon…does lead to dilution of adherence to regulations…unsuitablity, dodgy physical surroundings, neglect et cetera. I have seen it. All the while depleting the residents’ capital. Expensive, eh !? or the Treasury, coming from the local councils…
this is running in parallel to what you are going through and observing…
Andrea , sorry to intrude…
