Food banks are the first thing to show signs of a recession because the less money people have the less, they give to food banks. It’s not surprising to find out that the people who give to food banks are not super rich people with extra food lying around – they are often just everyday people with very little to spare who understand what it’s like have nothing. But food banks aren’t accessed by homeless people.
Homeless people don’t have a larder and have very little use for a bag of dried pasta. It is a sign though of hardship that’s on the way. The fact that most of the people who use foodbanks are in full time employment is also a sign of just how fucked up our economy is. If you are in work, you should be able to afford to buy food from the supermarket instead of accessing hand outs.
